Vegetables Growing in Weird Spot?
This is no joke. We havd a septic, and latteral line brake, and before we where able to repair it, nature planted a garden. By this I mean, we have the healthist tomatoe, cucumber, okra, and watermelon, plants you ever seen. There growing where the brake was. There is still a little seepage it the spot, so I guess that’s what their feeding on. Question is, Would it be safe to eat the fruits of the plants, or will they be contaminated? I’ve never seen vegetables so good looking. We believe it’s a sin to let anything go to waste, so if someone who really can give a true answer about this, please do. Thank you.

It seems that some plants may be ok but root crops are certainly out. Better safe than sorry though. Here is some info:

I would think they aren’t safe just because of what they’ve been feeding on. Call someone at a real gardening store, not Home Depot or such. They should be able to tell you.
lol, that is strange. maybe there were seeds planted underneath from a while back. either way, congratulations, you got yourself a farm. i suggest you get some corn and carrot seeds to make a complete collection.
I agree, I would not trust anybody off of this site for this information. I would try to find out as much information about my septic system. You know personally what has been put in your end of the system, but what about the pipes. Remember the chemicals you use to clean your toilet will all be in that same mixture. The amount of water might be enough to dilute the chemicals. Good Luck
WARNING!! Do Not Eat them. Septic tank goo make really great fertilizer but you cannot eat from this. Pathogens from your Poo will kill you. Your plants can eat them but you can’t but it does make some nice garden, Just for looks. If somebody eat it though you will be liable.
WOW I would love to see a picture of that. I don’t know what to tell you but, fertilize is ….. But I don’t know about human fertilizer.
I’m not one to eat wild vegetables because sometimes if they are mixed with maybe a weed or flower they can be deadly.
If you have livestock is should be OK for them.
I guess vegestable is vegestable!
i wouldn’t think it would hurt the veggies. just wash good before eating. hey people use manure on everything. lol
