My husband and I rent and we can’t go tilling up the back yard, so we are stuck with a container garden. I have a few questions and answers to any of them would be great!
1) Could I grow spinach in a milk jug with the top cut off, or would that be too small?
2) What kind of vegetable grows well in a milk jug?
3) Are there any vegetables to tolerate moderately shady areas?
4) a) When planting in a large container, do I still need to use potting soil?
b) If so, would it be cheaper to buy garden soil and mix it with store bought perlite?
c) What would the mix ratio be for mixing perlite?
5) Do you fertilize as normal when using containers?
6) Do you have to water as regularly as vegetables planted in the ground when using containers?
Thank you so much for any help!
